Smash Page post #2!

In my last post I spoke about the first ever pages I did. Today I am going to speak to you about the newest (as of this post) pages I have done!

Now, these 2 pages are the last of 8 I am going to do on the same topic, however I started at the end. I recently went to the seaside with my family for the day and we had a great time and got LOTS of pictures (hence why I need 8 pages to complete my visual memory of the day!)

Look at all the mess I am making!

Aww, don't we all look like we're having a lovely day!
So I got my inspiration for this page from Corene from Corenescreations on youtube. She is an incredible lady who films the process of her making a smash book page! They are so inspirational and very helpful especially if you're just starting out!
When doing this page I accidentally cut out my triangles 3/4 inch too small! So I had to do a lot of wiggling around of the triangles to make them fit! I had to take the two photo's at the top so I knew which order I had put the triangles in when I moved them to glue them down!!
When I had eveeentually got them in the right order and had photographed their whereabouts on the page I inked the edges with some Vintage photo distress ink from Tim Holtz and stuck all the pieces down! I then matt and layered the photo onto some pretty paper I had, stuck 2 strips of navy paper on the top and bottom to hide my edges, and  then stuck a happy sticker onto a piece of white card and cut it in a ribbon point shape thingymabob!
This page was a little more straightforward. The pages in SMASH* books are all patterned but sometimes the patterns don't match your theme. When this event occurs I normally just stick a pretty patterned paper over the top and I'm sorted! Today I used a piece from an Amy Tangerine 12 x 12 pack I had lying around. I then cut two strips from the left over paper I had from making my triangles and stuck two photos over the top. I used these strips to hold some of my journalling! At the bottom you may be able to tell that I used some of my left over triangles to create rectangles! I then stuck them all at the bottom so that the colour scheme was continuous!
The camera cut outs were actually printed out from this fantastic website of free printables from Rebecca! She is incredible and posts new printables very often!
I also finished the page off with another paper ribbon point thing and a sticker with the word 'Joy'.

The End product!!
I hope this has given you some insight into my smash world and some new links that will cause you to spend hours like me watching youtube videos and searching free printables!

Hope you're well xx

My First SMASH* Page!

Okay so I have told you my whole SMASH* experience but I feel now I should show you some of my Smash book!

This is an overview of my first ever Smash book page I did in May 2013.

To create some of my embellishments I used my Cricut machine. I LOVE my cricut! In fact yesterday I just bought some sparkly new mats for it so I am especially loving it currently!
To create this page I printed out some pictures of my face and a few things that I love (starbucks and my kindle!). I cut out my name and the flower with my cricut. I then cut out a rectangle piece of paper to do my journalling and used an orange promarker to go around the edges. To create the corner pieces I used a scalloped circle I already had an cut it into quaters.

On this page I did very similar things as the other page so that it flowed nicely. The black pieces you see were made using my dymo omega. I LOVE my dymo! When I got it, I went around labelling everything and gave everyone in my house a name tag! We used to have one when I was a little girl I am sure. They have been around for years however now they make a lot more electronic label makers. I prefer the look the embossed labels give though.
On this page I used a pink promarker to go around the journalling. I like how the edges of the marker are not straight. I used to hate it if things were perfect and now I do things like making wobbly lines on purpose!
If you look carefully you will see an arrow going down the page. To do this I used some yellow bakers twine and glued it down in the shape of an arrow. This was a total after thought because I had just got my twine and wanted to use it!

I love journalling in my smash books. I love relaying my memories in a book as it helps me remember them so much better! Especially if there is a picture attached too!

I shall stop writing now!
Hope you're well xx

Smash* Booking!

So in my last post I mentioned I have a smash book. Now if you are like me pre May 2013 and you don't know what a smash book is, let me just revolutionise your life with the joys of "Smashing"!

Smash booking is basically just scrapbooking without the pressure of having to colour coordinate and make it perfect! I ended up with piles of train tickets, photo's, leaflets, cinema tickets etc. that I was expecting to magically end up in a beautiful scrapbook one day without me having to stress over the page or make an effort!! It is a book that is supposed to be like your junk drawer (or in my case, random plastic wallets stuffed with memorabilia of places I'd been!) that you "smash" into a book. I shall attach a link from K & Company who make their own Smash* books which will give you a better idea than the picture I am painting you!

Now if you already know what a Smash* book is I am sorry for repeating information you already know but I get so passionate about it that I just want EVERYONE to know about them!!

So at the beginning of May I was just surfing the web for crafting items as per usual and I came across someone who said that they had used a 'Smash Stick'. Now I was like "Huh, what is a Smash Stick?" and so then started my google search that ended up with me spending HOURS online looking at Smash books! Have you ever found something that you have been looking for without realising but didn't know exist? Well that night I had a life changing moment! It sounds dramatic but it really changed my view on scrapbooking! Now when I go out I am constantly collecting items to stick in my smash book! Even my friends and family hand me things like receipts or tickets and say "Hey I saved this so you could stick it in your smash book!"

On May 21st I started my first (of many to come I am sure) Smash book. I know this date because it is my mothers birthday! That night I first found them I ran into my mother and told her all about them, and showed her the video I attached above. She then asked if I would get her one for her birthday and when ordering hers I ordered myself one too! However that meant I had to wait until I'd given her hers until I could start mine! Selfishly I was looking more forward to her birthday, not so much as to celebrate it with her, (which of course I was!) but to start my smash book!

Anyway, enough ranting and raving about them! I have talked enough tonight about it! I will soon post some pictures of my pages and you will see what I am on about!

Hope you're well

Welcome!!

Okay! So this is the first blog post on my new blog! Hello if you are reading this and WELCOME!

I have been a crafter for about 10 years but I have within the past few years made it a serious hobby! This blog is just something for fun to hopefully make some new crafting friends and to share what I like to craft! I mainly make cards and do my Smash* book but I do enjoy many other forms of craft! My favourite part of this hobby is spending HOURS online looking at craft websites and buying copious amounts of paper and inks and craft tools! Us crafters seem to have a gift in buying more craft items than we'll probably ever use!

Recently I have been learning the lesson of not allowing my special pretty papers sit in a drawer and not be used. I think selfishly I was not using them because I did a lot more card making and so didn't want to give the prettiness away! But now I have gotten into Smash booking I can selfishly keep them ALL to myself :)

I am going to keep this post short as it is the first! Hopefully I will be posting pictures soon of my projects! I have LOTS planned!

Thanks for looking and I hope whenever you are reading this that you have a great day!
